MATTHEW GILBERT

Born in 1969 in the same hospital as Buggles/Asia keyboard supremo Geoff Downes, Matthew picked up the musical vibes very early in life. The highlight of his career in a Bureau de Change – which he once closed, for an hour – was being able to use the company’s box at the Manchester Arena to see Jean-Michel Jarre. His teenage enthusiasm for new music has been rekindled by the Synthwave scene and his new show about it, Metropolis. Sadly, notoriously camera shy, we can only find grainy footage of him looking like he’s delivering a half-time report on World of Sport some time in 1983.
