Having spent almost two decades of talking music, comedy and general nonsense at each other, much to the chagrin of their spouses, Steve and Julian finally decided to channel this into what is now Off The Chart.

Steve has run the successful ‘80s website Sound of the Crowd for the last 6 years, covering everything from current news about ‘80s bands to reruns of Top of the Pops, whilst penning a couple of books on the subject. Julian just listens to a lot of random stuff. Off The Chart came about one Friday evening when Steve and Julian bumped into each other in Asda car park. Julian said "I have an idea for you", which Steve promptly rejected. Having mulled over it for a few days, Steve came back with a counter-proposal and the show was born! Taking the standard chart format and hitting it with a big stick to see what happens, The show mixes ‘80s classics, some less remembered hits, album tracks and random foreign chart entries with a big smattering of innuendo and tongue-in-cheek humour, and is almost entirely suitable for dogs and small children.

Off The Chart

Steve and Julian take a sideways look at the UK singles chart from the corresponding week in a particular ’80s year, playing the songs you don’t normally hear on a chart rundown. They also play three tracks from a hit album of the week and throw in a track from another country’s singles chart that wasn’t a hit in the UK. All this, plus the day’s news, TV and radio highlights, and the gigs you might have been to that week. What's not like?
