    MAD WASP RADIO

Welcome to Mad Wasp Radio, an Internet Radio Station that aims to provide YOU with a unique music and entertainment experience – with the main focus on new music, forgotten gems and quirky comedy talent from Britain and beyond and FUN! Our musical focus is an alternative to the mainstream – but still covering a host of genres from punk to soul and from rock to house and pretty much everything in between – and with plenty of recognisable songs from past decades. As well as catering for your aural pleasure, we also want to make you smile and will be introducing a healthy smattering of comedy and laughter to the proceedings.

    AND NOW WE ARE SIX!

At 6pm on Friday 8th September 2017, a brand new radio station, Mad Wasp Radio, hit the airwaves – and we’ve been broadcasting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week ever since.

It’s been a long journey – but an incredibly fulfilling one – and we will continue to strive to bring you the very best from across the musical board; with a particular emphasis on featuring new bands and artists, including unsigned artists who struggle to get airplay on the playlist-dominated shows of the so-called ‘major' stations.

All of us at Mad Wasp would like to thank, the fabulous and passionate DJs and presenters who have supplied us with such a wonderful variety of shows on the station. Without them we would be nothing. And, of course, a massive thanks to all the listeners for taking the time to tune into us and providing us with loyalty, support and feedback. And an extra special thanks to all who have made donations to help us with our running costs. Sadly, as we get bigger, things also get more costly but that seems to be the way of the modern world. When times are hard (as they are now for everyone) then things like donations are the first thing to fall which is totally understandable but without your donations we would be unable to continue. So if you can spare a few squiddly-diddlies to help us remain ad free and bring you such fantastic shows then please do - it is always very much appreciated.

Love and thanks to you all.

CONGRATULATIONS DANNY GRAY OF STOP, LOOK & LISTEN JOINING BEATENPRESS

Not just a pretty face and a great DJ at Mad Wasp Radio, Danny is also a very talented musician and has now bagged himself a publishing deal with Beatnpress! Is there no end to this man's talents? You can check out their website here and get yourself a copy!

A NEW SHOW HAS LANDED AT MAD WASP RADIO

Mad Wasp Radio welcomes a new monthly show to the Wasp Nest!

8pm on the first Saturday of every month we have a new show from DJ SpaceTerrapin - Continental Drift!

In our fast-paced world, taking the time to listen to music pieces beyond the 10 minute mark is as useful as it is enjoyable to be in touch with the continental drift! Time to enjoy those wonderful longer tracks from the weird and wonderful otherworldly electronica talent so popular on DJSTs show It Came From... Enclosure Three show which can be heard at 9pm on a Sunday.

MAD WASP RADIO CROSS POLINATION! MEET SOME OF THE WONDERFUL BANDS THAT SUPPORT US!

new single from The Far North - Home Sweet Home

Out today Friday 23rd June is the latest single release on Red Lantern Records from The Far North - Songs for Healing Hearts Vol 1, which is the Second release from The Far North following 2020 debut album Songs for Gentle Souls.

Lee Wyding wanted to continue the thread of writing directly like he did on SFGS and these songs are aimed at anyone who has obviously felt love, loss, hope and despair. Lee says the songs aren’t about anyone specifically per se but the feeling we all have when we fall in love, when we get our hearts broken, when we miss someone when we feel amazing we’re full of hope.

The one exception on the EP is the song Unplayed Guitar which he wrote in tribute to his friend John who passed away in 2009, The song basically states that his life meant a lot to me and you know I’ll never forget you, and your friends won’t either.

The second EP Songs for Healing Hearts vol two will hopefully be released in the winter and it will continue this vein of songwriting. There are a lot of songwriters that I admire and a lot of them like to tell stories and I’ve always tried to be that kind of songwriter. It doesn’t come easy to me so I only write about what I know and I know an incredible amount about heartbreak, sadness and loss.

But that’s not to say this is a sad record, because the underlying thread that holds all my songs together is the fact that there’s always hope, even if it’s a smile on the tube or it’s a happy text from someone that you like there’s always hope.

The buzz around Mad Wasp Radio continues to grow. The station was recently mentioned in an article on the Express newspaper website about the rise of online radio stations… describing them as the modern equivalent of sixties pirate radio!

They may have a got a little confused over a few of the facts – we started up back in 2017 – but the fact they decided to feature us underlines just how popular we’re becoming!
