WELCOME TO THE MAD WASP BLOG 2025

Seasons Greetings!

It has been an exceptionally challenging year for us here at Mad Wasp Radio. On a high note - our listenership continues to grow and grow but we have equally suffered "lows" with the loss of our very dear friend and exceptional DJ Jonny Steingold and sadly David Preston has also been bravely battling some serious health issues too. It is also one of the reasons we have been less active over our social media accounts etc. as we have had to re-jig our working schedules etc. to accommodate hospital visits. Bear with us and hopefully all will be back to normal shortly. Listeners will be pleased to know that there is a special tribute show going out for Jonny over the Christmas period which you can catch Christmas Eve at 10pm - Christmas Day at 5pm and midday on Boxing day - all UK times.

We are planning some exciting changes for the coming year including a new look Mad Wasp Radio website and all that remains to be said is that we hope you enjoy our Christmas and New Year Schedule and that you all have a wonderful holiday. See you on the other side!

Farewell to the legend Jonny Steingold

It is with great sadness dear listeners that we bring you the news that our much beloved Jonny Steingold passed away suddenly last Sunday night 17th August 2025.

Our condolences go to his wife Jean, family and friends.

We met Jonny whilst on Whitechapel Hospital Radio and Jonny was with us since the very start of Mad Wasp Radio.

Jonny was an exceptional DJ and great friend. His musical knowledge and ability to pick out the absolute best Americana music was second to none - and because of this we have decided to continue running repeats of his shows in honour of the great man.

In the early days of Mad Wasp Radio things were pretty tough and without Jonny’ s help, support and encouragement we may not have survived - we owe him a great deal and he was forever Mad Wasp’s greatest champion. To say that we will miss him is an understatement.

Support Ducky’s stroke recovery!

Waspers your much loved presenter Nicole - aka Lady Attercop - who you all know as one half of the popular Clockwork Cabaret with Emmett Davenport has been dealt a very hard blow as their much beloved other half Ducky Attercop has suffered a stroke and needs your help!

We don’t know exactly what the future holds, but we do know that the Attercops will need support for food, medical, income replacement, and possibly more. A GoFundMe has been set up by friends and family of the Attercops, and all funds go directly to Nicole and Ducky.

The Perfect Pair - A special one off show brought to you by Tracy and David Holroyd

Long time listener and supporter of Mad Wasp Radio Brian Taylor has now become a presenter and we are delighted! The Vinyl Lounge is a brand new monthly 1 hour show hosted by Brian every 3rd Friday in the month at 8pm catch his first show this Friday 16th May and you can chat along on Bluesky using the hashtag #TVLMWR
